MIA Lately
I have not been on tumblr, let alone posted, all week!! I feel a little bit lonely without checking out all of the happenings in the tumblr-world, but this week has been insanely crazy…besides regular work and my students acting like their usual-crazy selves, coaching 2 teams for our area’s Science Olympiad competition which is happening this weekend, my family and I celebrated my...

Let's Go Team!
I am currently coaching a volleyball team composed of my fifth grade girls and some fourth graders. The team is supposed to be only fifth graders, but there was a lack of interest early on and they opened it up to 4th grade girls too. This was before they realized that they did not have a coach and asked me to step in (I have coached a couple teams in the past and also played in high school,...

Joke of the moment:
With all the Charlie Sheen drama all over everything, it’s not a wonder the kids at school know what’s going on.
Today a fellow teacher told me a joke that a 6th grader told her. Here it is…
How much cocaine did Charlie Sheen do?
Enough to kill Two and a Half Men!

Weekend Equations
Sacramento Kings game + Karaoke (sang a duet of “I Love Rock & Roll,” small group performance of Toby Keith’s “I Love this Bar” and rocked the mike for a solo for “Gives You Hell” by All-American Rejects) = fantastic Friday night
Saturday = New diswasher installation
+ watching The Fighter (which was awesome!) + Stockton Thunder hockey game

Multicultural St. Patrick's Day
Instead of corn beef and green beer, I celebrated St. Patty’s Day with a Corona Light and pasta. And instead of hitting the town, we took a walk and removed our dishwasher.
Obviously you can tell I am not Irish! I did wear green today so that counts at least!

Wednesday Confession: Randoms
I hate onions…the smell, the taste, the way they make Matt’s breath smell!
I love ketchup and pasta sauce but hate tomatoes.
I love horror movies…the scarier and gorier the better!
I am tend to be lazy by nature.
Unless it is for work or some sort of party planning, I am chronically disorganized.
If there was a need for it and it could support my family and me, my dream job...

Ramshackle Glam (Tumblr): Asparagus, Bacon & New... →
ramshackleglam:
This side dish is basically just three things that taste good all mixed together; it’s pretty tough to get wrong. Plus, all your side dishes in one bowl = less cleanup = good by me.
ASPARAGUS, BACON & NEW POTATO SALAD
Living in the San Joaquin Valley of California definitely has it perks…one of those (and one that I look forward to each year) is asparagus season!...

Domesticated Weekend
You know you are an old married couple when the most exciting things you did over the weekend was buying a dishwasher and cleaning the carpets!
Coming in with a close tie for second was walking the dog, baking low-cal banana muffins, and grocery shopping!
Watch out for all the wild craziness coming from our direction!!!

Context is Everything...
Me: Get that away from your face! They're dirty!
Him: I'm a dirty boy.
Me: I can see that.
Context: Walking in from recess and one of my students has the equipment bag (full of balls...basket, soccer, volley, and bouncy) wrapped and rubbing against his face. I wonder what you were thinking the context was?!?!

Wednesday Confession: Family Weekend
This previous weekend was a little different from our usual weekend. This weekend we spent time with families. Not our own families, but some friends and their families.
Friday night was for dinner with a very close friend (that Matt went to high school with), her husband, and their two kids. It’s not very often that we hit up a restaurant with kids in tow, especially not two under the...
If I Only Had A Brain...
I left my house a total of three times this morning.
The first was when I thought I was actually leaving for work…car loaded and ready to go. Until I thought I left my curling iron on. Being the semi-paranoid person I am, I knew I couldn’t drive away with the thought lodged in the back of my head that my curling iron might be still on and the cause of a potential house-fire.
So I...

Kids Write the Darndest...
On a homework assignment the other night, my students had to write 3 questions that they would ask Mary (as in Mary, the mother of Jesus) as well as the answer that they think Mary would give. Here is one of the questions:
How do you stay fit?
and they thought that Mary would answer with:
I exercise.
As far as I know, this is not a usual line of questioning that the Virgin Mother would be...

Window Shopping
Anthro sent me an email today with their new dresses, which is pretty cruel and unusual punishment since I do not have oodles of extra money laying around to use on satisfying my love and longing for new spring/summer dresses!
Here are a few of the ones that I would love to see hanging in my closet…especially with weddings, bridal showers, and baby showers on this year’s event...
