This convo happened between me and a kindergarten...
Me: You guys need to be quieter when you are in the bathroom so you aren't distracting the other classes.
Student: Guess what?
Me: What?
Student: There is someone new in God's Corner!
Me: I know! Mrs. _____ is back!
Student: How did you know??
Me: I know everything! *wink*
Student: (GASP) So does my mom!! She knows everything too! When my dad tells me not to go into the dining room, and I go in the dining room, my mom always knows I've been in there!!

Wednesday Confession
I don’t like to cancel on people.  Actually, I think the more accurate phrase would be, I HATE to cancel on people.  There is one simple root to my hate for canceling and it is that I HATE to be cancelled on. There is just something that really makes me angry/sad/annoyed/hurt when someone cancels plans that we have already made.  (Side note: this does not apply anytime someone cancels...

Halloween (Couple) Costume Ideas...that are...
Steve Irwin and the Stingray (Matt’s favorite) Gomez and Morticia Addams (My favorite at this point) Blair and Chuck (Gossip Girl) MacGruber and Vicki St. Elmo Fred and Wilma Flintstone Russell Brand and Katy Perry Shaggy and Velma…because as my sister put it,  ”Shaggy and Velma, because, let’s be honest, you two are no Fred and Daphne.”  ;)  This is why I love...

Out of the Ordinary Things That Actually Happened...
A bat was flying down the hallways at school, and flew directly at the 6th grade class!  Two of us went on a bat-hunt to try to locate it…with no luck! So, I guess you could say I was a real “Bat Woman”!   There was a bomb threat at my husband’s office.  Luckily he was home and it turned out to be fake. I bought a Dyson vacuum with my own money, which is huge since I...

Wednesday Confession
Fall TV premier week is to me what fashion week is to Rachel Zoe.   I know that this might make me sound a tad sad and lame since I have been looking forward to it for months, but I will take the risk of sounding uncool. I love watching those certain shows on TV that continue to catch (and hold) my attention week after week, season after season.  It’s kinda like they are friends that you...

Last Week in Review
As I sit here at my desk this Monday morning, trying to plan for the day/week, I figured this is the best time to look back over the previous week (which was not one of the better weeks I have had in a while).  And since I see a week from a Monday-Sunday view, last week just technically ended for me last night.   Last week was our standardized testing week at school, which has some pros and cons....

Wednesday Confession
Yesterday was a pretty awful day at work, and one of the reasons the day was less than stellar was because of another staff member not doing their job. This was not the first time this has happened or been noticed by myself and other members of the staff, and, with this most recent example fresh in my mind, it brought me to my confession for this week. One of the things that I can absolutely not...

Email I received from a parent of a student in my...
One day a teacher asked her students to list the names of the other students in the room on two sheets of paper, leaving a space between each name. Then she told them to think of the nicest thing they could say about each of their classmates and write it down.    It took the remainder of the class period to finish their assignment, and as the students left the room, each one handed in the...

Labor Day Weekend Rewind
The long weekend started off with dinner with the in-laws. After dinner we came back to our house for some Mexican Train Dominoes!   Max decided to hop into my lap to help me with my game!  Saturday morning Matt and I packed the car and headed to Lake Alpine to join Alice and Brad for a night in the great outdoors! This was the first time I had every been to Lake Alpine (even though it is...

A Progressive Participle: Dear America, Superman,... →
kateybasye: Today, as I watched a class of eighth graders bust out of one of the trailer-classrooms and run out into the yard, I had one of those moments where I just wished the United States could watch its schools in action and realize that it’s looking in the mirror. How true this is…how can we, as a nation, be doing this to our future??

Wednesday Confession
I love Fall.  It is my favorite season and the weather this morning is teasing me into thinking it is going to start feeling like Fall!  I love the leaves, the weather, the sweaters, Halloween, and the feeling of being cozy at home as the weather starts to change.   If I could pick any kind of weather, I would pick rain.  I love the rain!  Anytime there is a chance of rain in the forecast, I get...

“Jess likes his music teacher because she is hot.”
– A Student who’s assignment was to write a sentence about Bridge to Terabitihia.  The student wrote a very correct sentence that is a bit more current than the language in the book, but correct nonetheless!  It made me, and the class, laugh.

Driving Pet Peeve
I am almost 100% positive that each and every vehicle on the road nowadays has turn signals (better known to some as blinkers).  Now, if every car, truck, van, SUV, etc. has one of these, why are there so many people who do NOT use them?? I cannot stand it when another car decides to come into my lane without the courteous aid of his or her blinker!  I also cannot stand it when a car in front of...

Oh My Goodness...
I just completed my first Fantasy Football draft!  Unfortunately it was for my husband’s team since he was otherwise occupied at his softball game. Let me just say that that was one of the most stressful hours I have spent in quite a while!!  The pressure of following all of his instructions and trying to figure out the online draft system was intense!  At least I was able to join in on a...
