Reading To-Do List:
Here are the books that I am taking with me to Beach Week 2010:
Currently reading…and it is really good!
Next up.
In the on deck circle.
And it the midst of reading all of those suspenseful, fun, enjoyable reads, I am trying to work my way through this book (recommended to me by my principle). I figure with school starting in a couple weeks, I may need to spend more time on the...

San Francisco Day Trip
Matt and I headed to SF yesterday. The main purpose for the visit was to get my wedding ring cleaned and checked, but since the jeweler is only located in the city, we decided to make a day out of it!
After we finished at Derco Fine Jewelers (which we love, one reason, besides them being super nice and helpful, being they check/clean my ring for free and any other jewelry we are wearing,...

Wednesday Confession
I hate that I feel this way, but it’s one of those things that I have a very hard time controlling. What I am talking about is being angry with my husband for something that he does accidentally. Like today, for example, he broke one of our drinking glasses. Our glasses are not extremely expensive, but they are the set we picked out when we got married. The glasses are sold in sets of 4,...

The meaning and secret of Inception →

After seeing what may be the best movie in a long time, I went on a Google binge to try to analyze what I just saw. This is the best article I’ve found and is exactly how I feel about the film.
(ONE GIANT SPOILER, obviously)
Husband and I cannot stop talking about this movie. It is utterly amazing how much of mindgame it truly plays on the audience. This link has...

In-Law Interference
As much as I love my mother-in-law, there are times when I wish that she would just mind her own business. I realize that that sounds harsh, and I don’t mean it in a nasty way. I mean it in this way: if someone tells you something in confidence, you should probably not repeat it to other people, hence the part when they say, “please don’t tell anyone” or...

Waiting, Waiting, Waiting...
I am patiently waiting for it to be 4:00. I am not a patient person so this is not the easiest thing for me to do…especially since I only have my dog for company, and he is currently asleep on the couch.
What I am waiting for is for Matt to call me. When he calls that will mean that he will have heard back from the loan guy, and when the loan guy calls that means that we will know if we...

One of the best things about summer:
Driving in the evening/night, with the windows down, the radio way up, and the breeze is still slightly warm from the day, but cool enough to put a little chill in the air.

I-thought-today-was-Wednesday-but-I-am-a-day-too-la...
Yesterday was a bummer of a day! Besides the fact that my sister and I were only allowed to play in one of our two softball games (which was extremely irritating because there are people on the team that are worse than I am and girls that have just joined the team this year, where I have been playing for over 4 years, that played both games), Matt and I found out that none of the banks that our...

I'm a dummy...
because I just went to Target to get a new black ink cartridge for the printer since Matt has currently put me in charge of printing out and copying all of the financial paperwork that needs to be submitted to see if we qualify to buy a new home.
I guess I should have checked how much paper we had BEFORE I went, because now I am back home, with a printer full of ink, and no paper to print on!

Just saw this brilliant place on an episode of Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations, and now I am salivating over these donuts! The “Flying Pig” would the first thing I would order!

Weekend Highlights
Friday night husband/wife sushi dinner and frozen yogurt preceding a viewing of 500 Days of Summer
Saturday morning: a very domestic shopping trip to Target, Lowe’s, and Kohl’s
Saturday evening we celebrated my step-father-in-law’s birthday with a very fun, yet awkward, hamburger BBQ. This was awkward due to the fact that BIL showed up, which meant that we spent the evening...

A Reliable Wife...A Fabulous Book
I just finished this beautifully written novel. It is not one of those chick-lit, fun, quick reads. It was deep, dark, and very intense, but very worth the time to read. Here is my review on Goodreads.

OMG!
During this past week I have finally got around to watching the last half of the last season of Gossip Girl. I love this show but it was starting to annoy me (more than usual) halfway through the season, so I let my DVR keep up for me. I just now finished watching the season finale and the only thing that entered my mind when it ended was OMG, Holy S**t!
I consider this show one of my many...

Wednesday Confession
I am addicted to sleep. I cannot help it! I sleep and sleep and sleep and sleep. I go to bed late and sleep in later. When I have nothing going on during the day, I cannot help but sleep until 11 (and sometimes, admittedly, later than 11). One of the reasons I think I do this (here comes the rationalization) is that I am bored during the day! With Matt at work, my sister out of town, and all...

Bachelorette Chatter
Me: If Ali doesn't pick Chris L, I may leave you and go to Cape Cod to find him and marry him.
Matt: Ok
Me: Thanks for not putting up a fight.

Poooor Max!
Max went to the groomers yesterday for a bath and a much needed haircut. When Matt picked him up, the groomer informed him that during the haircutting process she cut Max’s ear. Nice work! They even had to put on some sort of a coagulator in order to stop the bleeding…so obviously not a tiny nick on his ear!
Then, while Max and I were playing, I noticed that he also had a nick on...

Really LeBron?!?
LeBron James will formally announce where he will play next season and beyond on “The Decision,” which will air live on Thursday, July 8, at 9 pm ET on ESPN. (via lebronjames.com)
Is there really a need for an hour long press conference to let the world know where you have decided to play basketball? I have mad respect for your basketball talents, but an hour long show called “The...

4th of July Camping
Matt and I had a blast on our long weekend camping trip with Alice, her boyfriend, and a bunch of strangers! I have to be honest and say that I had some reservations going into the trip about the unknown group of people that we would be joining, BUT they were fantastic and so so much fun! We spent endless hours on a boat on Lake Don Pedro in the unrelenting heat! Thank goodness for the cool...

Message from a 5th Grade Teacher:
Please remember that the Fourth of July is more than fireworks, grilling, and drinking. The reason we celebrate this great holiday is to commemorate the independence of our country. The Declaration of Independence was signed on July 4, 1776 which was the beginning of our fight for freedom from Britain.
“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they...

Teaching Pet Peeve/Rant
I hate hearing this, “It must be nice to be a teacher…working from 8 to 3, and having three months for summer off!”
This is so far from the truth! I would like anyone who thinks that this is the way teaching works, to head to a nearby school and shadow a teacher for an entire day (one that begins well before the first bell and waaaay after the last bell). Having time off...

An email exchange between two co-workers regarding a lost cat, hilarity ensues.
I have mascara streaming down my cheeks at work because I’m crying and laughing. Take a few minutes to read this. I endorse it.
