2011
I am making an early resolution to leave all family drama in 2010. I do not want to put up with all of the unnecessary drama that has plagued our life this past year. It is unfair and rediculus.
So, 2011, I am starting fresh. I am leaving the problems and the people that are unhealthy for our life in 2010.
A new year. A new mentality. And a hopefully a better life!

Things I am looking froward to tomorrow:
Eating a big bowl of Frosted Flakes with sliced bananas for breakfast.
Going to a Stockton Thunder hockey game tomorrow night with the hubs, Alice, Ellen, and their men.
Having a beer at the game.
Not being at school working!! (Even though I have a huge stack of papers to grade that I have been putting off because I do not even want to think about work)

Asian Chicken and Noodle Salad
I tried this recipe out tonight. I am not really sure where it originated, but it was given to me by a collegue who made it for a staff lunch. I put my own spin on it and varied from the original recipe a bit! I served it to Matt and my in-laws, and it seemed to be a hit!
Ingredients:
Sesame Ginger Dressing:
3 tbsps. sugar
1/3 cup rice vinegar
1/4 cup peanut oil (I used a mix of sesame...

Christmas Eve
Now that Christmas is all said and done, I wanted to share a little bit about how we celebrate the holiday (especially since I ran out of time before Christmas)!
Christmas Eve holds a few different traditions for both Matt and my sides of the family.
A few years ago my family (mom, dad, sis, and I) decided we should spend some time together before all of the hustle and bustle of everything...

Getting My Christmas On
Today is the day when I finally have to go out and brave the crowds to get my shopping finished. Matt and I did most of it a few weeks ago, but the most important people on my list are the ones that I have to finish shopping for today!
My immediate family is not exchanging gifts this year due to the fact that we are all going to Mexico next year for Thanksgiving, so we thought that we would buy...
Late Wednesday Night Confession
Tonight, instead of sharing some kind of random fact/confession, I want to share something that I have been mulling over for quite a while now. I really don’t want to go into all of the details that surround the issues, because there are too many to list and I do not have the time or the energy to rehash everything in type, but just to express what I am feeling. I know that this is an...

Week(ish) in Review
After looking through 49 pages, I am now caught up on all of the tumblr goodness I have missed over the past 4 days. There have been multiple times the past couple days when I have wanted to sit down and catch up on everything, but life has not allowed that! Here is what has been going on in my world:
First and foremost I must say that I am officially on Christmas vacation!!
Friday night I...

No joke...
I saw a man in Starbucks this morning that was winding the tape back into his cassette tape with a pen. What made this nice man even better was that he was wearing 80’s style Hammer-pants. I think he may have forgotten what year it was!

Wednesday Confession
To go off of my previous post about what a trail of mess I leave behind me in the kitchen, I figured that I should disclose another fact about me…
I am not a neat, organized, tidy person in general.
Matt is the OCD/anal one in the relationship. We had some pretty big adjustments to make when we moved in together because I am a clutterer and he is extremely neat. I have tried (and still...

Caution: Baking In Progress
I love to cook and bake. I really do enjoy it, but I really do not do it often enough. There is a small problem when I do get going in the kitchen…I make a complete mess!!
This was the state of part of the kitchen last night while I was busy making cookies for Matt to take to work for a Christmas party/cookie exchange today.
There is honestly not a time when I have ever been baking or...

Flash Mobs
One of the items on my bucket list is to be a part of a flash mob (and I know that I am not the only one)! I love flash mob videos and every time I watch one it makes me happy.
One of my fellow teachers mentioned she had seen a video of one and how cool it was. None of the other teachers had ever heard of a flash mob, so I explained. They all seemed to think it was a pretty neat thing.

let’s hope that this day picks up! And by picks up, I do not mean the amount of kids I have to send to the office!
I hope your Tuesday morning has been calmer than mine!

On the first day of Christmas my KK gave to me...
My school has a very fun/dorky/silly/awesome Christmas tradition…”KK Week!”
{side note: KK stands for ‘Kris Kringle’}
This is basically a ‘Secret Santa,’ but stretched out for an entire week!
We draw names in October (so we have plenty of time to prepare), and all of the teachers and staff at school participate. Every day for 5 days, you have to...

Weekend Highlights
Here are a few of my favorite things from the past weekend:
Celebrating my sister’s 23rd birthday! Amanda and I had pedicures after work and then enjoyed a birthday dinner at one of the best restaurants in town, Casa Fores Marina. Delicious Mexican food and even better fresh fruit margaritas! Here is a picture of my sis and me earlier this year…
Saturday was filled with sleeping...

Wednesday Confession: Christmas Edition
I love Christmas (big surprise). But there is one thing that I hate…putting Christmas lights on our Christmas tree.
I dread this.
Our tree has been positioned in our living room since Sunday afternoon. It is bare. No lights. And no ornaments due to the fact that there are no lights.
I have even gone as far this year as asking my mom to come over and put lights on the tree for me....

Beyond Frustrated
I cannot believe how far beyond frustrated I am today! I thought that today was going to be a bad day when I ripped my finger nail away from my skin while trying to break a dog treat in half.
Then I was driving to work and “Baby, It’s Cold Outside” came on the Christmas stations followed by “All I Want for Christmas is You.” I figured that 2 of my favorite songs...

We got a new camera!!
I am so excited that our new camera come last night (thanks to UPS who made an extra trip to drop it off)! Matt has been researching cameras and prices for months trying to find the right one at the right price. We (or I should really say he) found the Nikon D5000 at a great price online during Thanksgiving sales-galore weekend. I have had the same point-and-shoot camera for over 4 years and it...

As if Top Chef could get any better...
Anthony Bourdain has joined the Judge’s Table! I love and have a rediculous crush on Mr. Bourdain! And this season is All-Stars! I watched the season premier last night and it was fantastic! This should shape up to be the best season so far. If you like cooking or reality shows, and are not watching Top Chef, check it out!

I hate it when...
I take time on one of my few prep periods during the day to type up a letter to my class’s parents. I run around to get if proofed and copied. It is sitting neatly in a stack on my desk ready to be passed out that day (because usually it is something that needs to go home that day), and then somehow I forget to pass it out…whether it gets covered up by another stack of papers or we...

Wednesday Confession
I have had 2 dreams about ex-boyfriends over the last few nights. The dreams were both set in pre-marriage times. In both dreams the exes and I were trying to rekindle things, and it was looking like it was going to happen. They were super detailed and left me with a very nostalgic feeling. I have no real knowledge about deciphering dreams, so I have no idea what this means. (Maybe it has...

Southwest Success
This is a great dish that is perfect on nights when you want something good for you, filling, and delish! And it is just as good (if not better) the next day for lunch!
One skillet and one easy recipe…
Ingredients:
1 bag Success Rice (I use brown rice)
1/2 cup chopped onion (I leave out because I hate onions!)
1 lb ground beef (ground turkey is also a great, healthier...
