Trick-or-Treating Pet Peeves:
If you want to trick-or-treat at my house, please use the walkway that runs from the sidewalk ALL the way up to the front door.  The grass is not the walkway! If you have a baby in a stroller, do not place a candy receptacle on it and act like the candy you’re getting is for them.  I know it’s not.  You know it’s not.  We all know it is for you, the adult that should go...

Halloween Headache
Halloween is something that has taken on greater meaning for Matt and I recently.  Last year we decided to host a party.  We enjoyed the decorating and festivities so much that we turned it into an annual occurrence.  So this year is the 2nd Annual Vaccarezza Halloween Spooktacular! There is only one problem…we haven’t figured out what we are dressing up as yet (because, of course, it...

A snip-it of a hilarious article from TheNest.com:
Michael Ian Black’s Guide to Cohabitation You’ve done it.  You’ve taken your relationship to the next level and moved in together. Since I’m an expert at, well, everything, I’m giving you my personal tips for domestic domination. Farts are the great equalizer. A lot of couples are afraid to play the butt trumpet in front of each other. Big mistake! You’re...

Teacher Technology Upgrade!
This WAS my primary way of getting info to my students: Pretty fancy, huh?? This is my set-up NOW: Document camera and projector (with a laptop hook up)!  The thing that makes this even better than just being able to better show info to my class is that they are excited about the new technology!  They are excited when I turn it on and they want to be able to display their work on it.  I...

Weekend Rewind
This past weekend the fam and I headed to Lake Tahoe for a little relaxation.  Knowing that the weather was going to be stormy, we really had no plans going into the weekend. One of my new favorite things to do in South Lake Tahoe (on the Nevada side) is playing the horses at the casino!  My godmother introduced this gem to us when we were in Tahoe for Memorial Day weekend.  Now, I don’t...

Got this in an email from a co-worker and thought...
How to seal a bag and make it air tight without twist ties or rubber bands: Cut up a plastic water bottle and keep the neck and top as in photo below. Insert the plastic bag through the neck of the bottle and screw on the cap to seal. TaDa!  The bottles are made to be air-tight, so water doesn’t leak out, so whatever you put in the bag will stay fresh and dry (and it comes with a good...

Wednesday Confession
When I walk my dog, by myself, I listen to my iPod.  No big shocker there.  But what I am a tad bit embarrassed about confessing is that I tend to sing out loud as I am walking.  We live in a housing community and my route usually takes me along a path that boarders the backyards of the houses.  I know that at some point people have been out enjoying their backyard when they hear some crazy...

Finally Fall
Over the past few days there has been a breeze in the air, some much-waited-for rain, and it is FINALLY starting to actually feel like Fall.  To make this even better tomorrow holds one of my absolute favorite October-esque activity to help me really get into the season.  Drumroll please….. The Dell’ Osso Family Farms Corn Maze (which happens to be the world’s largest...

Wednesday Confession: Teaching
Today was one of those days when I left school wondering why I ever became a teacher. It was a horribly, frustratingly awful day.  The kids seem not to care.  The work is ceaselessly piling up and there is no end in sight! It wouldn’t be so bad if the time during the school day were less demanding..during most every prep period I have, I end up talking with students who have not been doing...

Student: Were you alive when the continents were all together?
Me: Umm, no. That was millions of years ago and I'm not quite that old.

Teacher Swag
It’s not very often pretty much never that I go to a party or glam event and leave with a bag of awesome swag.  But since I am a teacher, I have been given some pretty cool swag from different school-related events.  Here is a perfect example (and one that made me pretty excited when I saw it)! Last week I took my class on a field trip to the Lawrence Livermore Nation Laboratory’s...

Fall Festival
Tomorrow my school is having its annual Fall Festival.  This is held every October during Columbus day weekend.  Back in the day, when I went to school at the school I currently teach at, it was a two-day event of running wild, playing games, eating junk, smashing confetti-filled eggs over people’s heads, soaking shirts with Invisible Ink, and spraying everyone in the vicinity with Silly...

Wednesday Night Confession
I am currently addicted to ‘Brothers & Sisters.’ I had 6 or so episodes on the DVR from the end of last season. I have been up later than I should the past three nights trying to catch myself up. I just cannot get enough! Matt has even become an addict and an enabler…except for tonight, since he is asleep while I am watching the season finale. I guess he just couldn’t...

Weekend Highlights
Friday Night: Eating Papa Murphy’s pizza with my family.  I know that this is not very exciting or something that most people would consider a “highlight,” but I was looking forward to eating pizza since Thursday night, so it was definitely a highlight for me!! Saturday: Drinking mimosa road sodas on our way to the San Francisco Giants game! Matt and I at the game. My...
